It would be nice if there were various mechanisms available. The pop method is probably passe at this point, but I have seen agencies where tying this into LDAP (even in an ActiveDirectory^? specific manner) would be a huge administrative win.

Also, it would be equally nifty to have the ability to determine Authorization externally as well. "Is this user able to use lily?" If so, then when they authenticate for the first time, if they DO NOT have an existing player object, make them one. Interactively prompt them for responses if need be. Then, the next time they log in, all that is done. Automatically join them to various discussions while you're at it.

Having this feature would make it largely possible to drop a lily server into a pre-existing network and have it JustFineWork.
